SALEM, N.H. (CBS) – Police in Salem, New Hampshire are looking for a Massachusetts man who allegedly fled during a traffic stop late Saturday night.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Bernice Corpuz reports.
Officer Nick Turner approached Jonathan Benoit and his passenger at a Mobil gas station. Both were allegedly soliciting other customers for money.
“The officer had run up to the side of the car to try and prevent him from taking off and… having a flashlight in his hand, (he) smashed the driver side window out but the suspect was able to flea,” said Dep. Chief Patten of the Salem, New Hampshire Police Department.
Police said Benoit, of Wilmington, Mass., then took off in a Ford Mustang with Massachusetts plates.
He’s facing charges including driving with a suspended license.
Officer Turner, meanwhile, was treated for cuts on his hand.
