BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox called up outfielder Che Hsuan-Lin from Triple-A Pawtucket and sent down first baseman Mauro Gomez on Sunday.
Lin, who appeared as a defensive replacement in the outfield for the Red Sox earlier this season, was hitting .256 in Pawtucket before his call-up.
Lin gives the Red Sox some outfield depth while two of the other outfielders recover from their injuries.
Cody Ross suffered a foot injury Friday and is considered day-to-day.
Ryan Sweeney, meanwhile, made a spectacular diving catch in Saturday’s game and came up woozy. He underwent concussion testing, though there’s no official word about his status.
Gomez went 0-2 in two at-bats with the Red Sox this season.
