BOSTON (CBS) – Kevin Youkilis took another step towards rejoining the Red Sox on Friday night, playing five innings at third base for Pawtucket.
The rehabbing Youkilis was tested at the hot corner, handling a sacrifice bunt in the second inning. In the bottom of the fifth, his last in the field, Youkilis turned a 5-4-3 double play and recorded the final out of the inning.
Youkilis went 1-for-3 at the plate, singling in top of the first. He struck out in his other two plate appearances; swinging in the third and looking to end the fifth with two on and two out.
Youkilis will play for Pawtucket through Monday and join Boston in Baltimore on Tuesday, when he will be re-evaluated.
