CARLISLE (CBS) – A popular ice cream stand in Carlisle has been allowed to reopen to the public a week after the Department of Conservation and Recreation shut them down over building code violations.
The DCR forced the ice cream stand to close last Friday, saying the family that owns the stand made construction upgrades without pulling permits, and that the upgrades weren’t up to code.
A DCR report cited a lack of smoke and fire alarms, exit signs and other requirements of the fire code, along with plumbing and construction violations.
It’s unclear whether all of those violations have been fixed, but the stand has been allowed to reopen.
The stand on Great Brook Farm has been a popular spot for years.
