Easton Police: East Fairhaven Man Arrested For Attacking Officer

EASTON (CBS) - An East Fairhaven man is facing charges for attacking an Easton police officer, according to officials.

Christopher Cunniff, 26, was arrested Friday.

Officers showed up on Foundry Street for a report that two men were damaging mailboxes and found him lying in the woods. They say he appeared intoxicated. While the officers questioned Cunniff, he allegedly became belligerent and attacked one of them.

Cunniff was pepper sprayed and arrested. He's charged with malicious damage to property, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a police officer

The officer he allegedly attacked was not injured.
