$1 Million Winchester Home Damaged In Fire

WINCHESTER (CBS) – A Winchester home worth more than $1 million was heavily damaged in a fire Friday morning.

The three-alarm fire at the house on Copley Street broke out around 6 a.m.

"The whole front of the house was engulfed in flames," neighbor Barbie Leslie told WBZ-TV.

The home belongs to retired Winchester police officer James Covino, who also owns a restaurant in town. He was inside his house with at least two of his daughters when the fire started.

Everyone made it out safely, but the 100-year-old home may be a total loss.

"It's unlikely that the front section of the house will be saved," Fire Chief John Nash said. "There's a question as to whether the rear section will be able to be renovated."

There's no word yet on how it started.
