Man Found Lying Unconscious On Framingham Road

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) - A man was found face down and unconscious in the middle of a road in Framingham on Tuesday.

The man, identified as 21-year-old Nicholas Russo, was found lying near the intersection of Elda and Eleanor Roads.

A neighbor spotted the man before 3 p.m. Tuesday and called 911.

"His shirt was pulled up, he had an injury on his back and a bump on his head," says Larry, the man who found Russo. "He wasn't conscious, police came a few minutes later and an ambulance came a few minutes after that."

The victim was taken to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening head injuries.

Police are not sure if the man was hit by a car or assaulted.

A neighbor, Margaret Phoenix, says she didn't hear anything before the young man was found. "There was no noise there was not a sound," says Margaret. "We would have heard it. I had all the windows open, the kids were outside, I was outside. "

Russo's uncle says that he worked as a cook at Ruby Tuesday in Framingham, about a mile and a half from where he was found. He says Russo grew up in Ashland, was trying to get his GED, and hoped to join the Army.

WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson contributed to this report.
