BOURNE (CBS) - A summer home on the Cape worth more than $2 million was destroyed in a fire overnight.
Firefighters were called to the sprawling house on Beverly Road in Bourne at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday after the caretaker reported a fire in the main section of the compound.
No one was in the home.
The caretaker was in his adjoining house when he said he saw the lights flicker in the main compound just before the flames broke out. He was not hurt.
It took firefighters four hours to put out the fire.
The 2-story, 6-bedroom waterfront compound was built in 1930. It is assessed at $2.3 million.
The cause is still not known. There was no work being done at the home at the time of the fire.
