Local Hotel-Booking Website Hopes To Remove The Guess Work

BOSTON (CBS) - Timing can be everything when it comes to finding the best deal on a hotel room. But, a new website could help you save money even after you make your reservation.

It's called Tingo. The Charlestown-based company wants to take the gamble out of booking your next hotel room. "When you walk in the lobby and you check in, you know you got the best rate," says Tingo's General Manager, David Krauter.

Krauter says all you have to do is look for the Money Back logo on their website. If the hotel price drops for any reason, you pay the lower price.

"We automatically watch your reservation for you. And if the price drops for any reason we'll rebook you at the lower rate and we'll refund the difference to your credit card," explains Krauter.

Just weeks after Tingo's launch, some customers are already cashing in.

"We're seeing about one-third of the time that someone books on Tingo that they will receive money back. On average they will receive $35 dollars for a two-night stay."

Other websites do offer price guarantees, but with a catch.

For example, on Orbitz you'll get a refund only if another Orbitz customer books the same hotel at a lower rate.

Krauter says at Tingo, "We don't worry if someone else has booked the same trip with the same room with the same dates. We just look at your reservation."
