Woman Describes 5-Hour Rescue From NH Mountains

BOSTON (CBS) - It took nearly 40 people to rescue a Millbury woman trapped this weekend in the mountains of New Hampshire.

Forty-five-year-old Emily Crane and her husband were in the White Mountains National Forest on Saturday set to do a loop hike.

But, not long after hitting the summit, Emily broke her ankle. She couldn't walk, so her husband called 911.

Crews found the couple three hours later.

Then came the tough part. Crews needed to carry Emily three and a half miles over rugged terrain in darkness.

It took about five hours to reach the foot of the mountain.

Emily is recovering and says she's already planning her next hike on Appalachian Trail.
