Also known as e-cigarettes, the electronic tobacco product "provides a vapor of liquid nicotine to the user."

Tina Tradd, the health inspector for the town of Cohasset, says the board of health wants to amend the town's anti-smoking bylaws.

The new rules would prohibit smoking e-cigarettes in public places and selling any tobacco products at all in pharmacies.

"We're targeting pharmacies because it undermines their effort to educate patients on safe and effective use on medication," said Tradd.

Cohasset residents would still be able to purchase tobacco in grocery stores and liquor stores.

The proposal will be put to a vote on May 12.

If approved, Cohasset would become the 20th community in the state to include e-cigarettes in anti-smoking bylaws.
