NH Man Accused Of Shooting Out SUV's Window In Road Rage Incident

DOVER, N.H. (CBS) – A man has been arrested in connection with a road rage incident that happened on the Spaulding Turnpike in New Hampshire a month ago.

Police say 42-year-old Roderick Woodward used a BB gun to shoot out the back window of a white Ford SUV back on March 29th.

The Ford, driven by Sandra Poteet, was carrying three children. The glass shattered all over the kids, but none of them were hurt, just frightened.

"All I heard was the explosion and I didn't realize what it was. When I realized what had happened I was upset," said Poteet.

New Hampshire State Troopers didn't lay out exactly how they tracked Woodward down and didn't give a motive for the shooting. Poteet has her own theory.

"He was driving all over the place and I ended up getting in front of him. At Exit 7 he shot my window out I guess because he was just mad [that I passed him]," she said.

Poteet says it happened just before 6 p.m. that evening. She first noticed the suspect's truck driving erratically at a toll booth several miles before the exit.

It took a month for troopers to catch up with Woodward. Now he faces felony charges of Reckless Conduct and Criminal Mischief.

"[The arrest] does make me feel a whole lot better. I'm glad that he got caught because he could have hurt somebody," said Poteet.

Woodward's arraignment is set for June 26 in Dover District Court.

Anyone with more information about the incident is asked to call New Hampshire State Troopers.
