Ortiz 'Star Of Stars' In Valentine's Eyes
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox DH David Ortiz capped off a career April with two home runs Monday night against the Athletics.
Ortiz' amazing first month of the season has Boston's new manager simply in awe of the 36-year-old slugger.
"David's the star of stars right now," Bobby Valentine said after the 11-6 win. "It's hard to throw a strike by him. He's using all field, he's seeing the ball well. I know it's the old cliché, but he gets two balls, no strikes, it doesn't even bother him to take because he's very confident in his swing. His swing is as good as I think it can get."

Ortiz' shots were his fifth and sixth of the season, both solo shots, for his 38th multi-homer game of his career and 36th with Boston. He moved past Jim Rice for sole possession for second place on the Red Sox all-time list for multi-homer games, and is just one such game behind Ted Williams' record of 37.
Both of Monday night's home runs came off Oakland lefty Tommy Milone, marking the first time in his career Ortiz hit multiple home runs against left-handed pitching.

Ortiz is up to 384 career homers, moving him into a tie with Harold Baines for 57th on MLB's All-Time list.
