Over 2,000 runners turned out for the event. The run began at the Portsmouth Police station and ended at the Greenland Police station where Maloney was chief for 12 years.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Kim Tunnicliffe reports

Portsmouth Police Chief David Ferland says Maloney would be humbled by the turnout. “I think right now he is smiling down upon us,” says Chief Ferland. “He was a very warm police officer and we are much less not having him around anymore.”

The run raised $45,000 for Chief Maloney’s family.
