There's $2 billion in unclaimed cash that the state is holding onto.

In fact, 600,000 Massachusetts residents (or 1 in 10) are owed money.

State Treasurer Steve Grossman says you can find out if some of that money belongs to you.

"Just go to our website...type in their name, and they will know instantaneously whether they have any (unclaimed money) or not," said Grossman.

Grossman says this unclaimed money can take many different forms.

"It can be a check that was un-cashed. It could be a dividend check that you didn't get. It could be a refund that you were owed from a travel agency from a trip that you didn't take. It could be a old passbook that your grandma had when she passed and nobody knew that she had $1,800 in the bank," said Grossman.
