Report: Patriots OT Matt Light Likely To Retire

FOXBORO (CBS) - Longtime Patriots offensive lineman Matt Light plans to retire, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

Light, 33, has been with the Patriots since he was taken in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft and has won three Super Bowl rings protecting Tom Brady's blindside.

Nate Solder, a first round pick for the Patriots in 2011, would likely take over as the starting left tackle moving forward.

Light declined to reveal his plans earlier Wednesday to ESPNBoston.com, but did say a decision will come "sooner than later."

Light is under contract for the 2012 season.
