Mass. Jobs Picture May Be Brighter Than Originally Thought

BOSTON (CBS) - The latest jobs figures from the federal government may underestimate the true picture.

While the Bureau of Labor Statistics says Massachusetts lost 4,200 jobs in the third quarter last year, state figures show that we generated more than 26,000 jobs.

Over the first 9 months of last year, Massachusetts actually produced 39,000 new jobs, instead of the federal estimate of about 2,300.
