BOSTON (CBS) – The MBTA is cracking down on fare evaders one of its busiest routes. They have ordered trolley drivers along a stretch of the Green Line to open only the front doors.
Some riders worry this will slow them down, but it should make it more fair.
Effective Tuesday, at most above-ground stops on the D Line, only the front doors of the trolleys will open.
The goal is to stop people from hopping on the T without paying. Riders recognize the new policy might slow things down, but some say it’s worth it.
But for riders who say the Green Line’s already slow and crowded, even the concession that all doors will still open during rush hour isn’t much consolation.
