State Trooper Released From Hospital After Chicopee Shooting
BOSTON (CBS) - A Massachusetts State Police trooper was released from the hospital Sunday, days after he was wounded in a shooting in Chicopee on Friday morning.
Trooper John Vasquez, 44, was shot in the leg and the hand just before 8 a.m. Friday while responding to a home invasion situation. He also took shrapnel to his right leg and was hospitalized.
The accused shooter, 41-year-old Carlos Laguer, died from gunshot wounds on Friday. It is under investigation whether he was struck by rounds fired from police, whether he shot himself, or both.
Vasquez is now resting at home with family, state police said.
