LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge who presided over the trial of Michael Jackson’s doctor will hear testimony in the bizarre murder case against a man who assumed multiple identities including that of a Rockefeller.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor on Friday set trial for Christian Gerhartsreiter for January 2013.
Gerhartsreiter, a German immigrant who at times called himself Clark Rockefeller, is accused of killing the son of his landlady in 1985.
The killing of John Sohus baffled authorities for years, and it wasn’t until last year when Gerhartsreiter was serving a sentence in Boston for kidnapping his daughter that they developed enough evidence to charge him with murder.
Gerthartsreiter, who has pleaded innocent, complained in court that waiting for trial to begin next year “sounds like a long, long time.”
