Police: Cement Truck Dragged Car More Than A Mile On Rt 128

DANVERS (CBS) - A woman was injured in an unusual crash on Route 128 Friday afternoon in Danvers.

State Police say they received several 911 calls reporting that a cement truck was pushing a small car sideways down the highway.

Troopers say their initial investigation indicates the truck pushed the car for more than a mile after the initial impact.

The driver of that car, a 39-year-old Florida woman, was taken to a local hospital. The extent of her injuries were not immediately known.

The truck involved in the crash is a 1999 Volvo mixer owned by South Shore Gunite of Chelmsford. Police say the truck was being driven by a 48-year-old Nashua, N.H. man.

The cause and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
