Scrap Metal Thieves Target Cemetery Faucets

LAWRENCE (CBS) - Thieves are targeting cemeteries in Lawrence to score expensive scrap metal. Police say someone stole 150 brass spouts and handles off of faucets at two city cemeteries.

The faucets are used by mourners to water plants and flowers at grave-sites.

Investigators say these types of crimes are happening more often. Brass is a fairly popular target, going for about $1.50 a pound.

Lawrence Police ask anyone with information on the cemetery thefts to give them a call.
