New Nike Patriots Jersey Remains Largely Unchanged For Next Season
BOSTON (CBS) -- There was a bit of uneasiness when it was learned that NFL jerseys would no longer be made by Reebok and would instead be made by Nike, the creators of some of the more interesting jersey designs showcased by Oregon football in recent years.
Patriots fans who feared major change can breathe easy, though, after the new Nike designs were released on Tuesday.
Along with the designs for the 31 other NFL teams as part of a major unveiling in New York, Wes Welker modeled the new Patriots jersey. While the Seahawks' garb underwent some noticeable changes, most teams will be looking almost exactly the same when they hit the gridiron next season.
That includes the Patriots, of course.
The only noticeable difference is the Nike swoosh on the sleeve of the jersey, where the Reebok logo used to be.
Nike also unveiled new designs for gloves, and the Patriots also tweeted a picture of new cleats being modeled by Welker.
The Seahawks were the only team to undergo what could be considered "major" changes. Even then, it was only an increase in neon green that differentiate their new jerseys from the old ones.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was present at the unveiling, as was Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz.
