Hingham Mother Accused Of Hosting Underage Drinking Party

HINGHAM (CBS) – Police are seeking charges against 53-year-old Theresa Kenny for hosting an underage drinking party where more than 30 teens were present.

A criminal complaint was filed against Kenny for allowing alcohol to be served to minors, also known as the state's Social Host Law and being the keeper of a noisy and disorderly house.

Hingham Police officers responded to the home on Brewer Road Saturday night shortly after 11pm. Arriving officers found the road difficult to pass due to the 10-15 cars parked on both sides of the road.

Officers talked to youths outside who said the homeowner was home. Officers met the mother at the door who said she was having a party for her daughter, a student at Thayer Academy.

She brought the officers to the basement and some teens fled out the back door. Officers saw beer cans, cups filled with beer and beer spilled on the tables. They were able to detain a total of 30 teenagers, ages from 15-18, in the basement.

Police say the mother admitted that the teens were not sleeping at her house and some had already driven home.

Officers contacted all of the parents and remained on scene until an adult arrived to drive each teen home. The teens were from 17 different towns.
