BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Red Sox lost a very important member of the team this spring, with the passing of their “unofficial mascot” Brewzer the Bulldog.
Brewzer belonged to minor league equipment manager Mike Stelmach, and spent his days at the Red Sox spring training facilities. A staple in the complex, Brewzer was often more popular than many of the players.

As Brewzer would take up shop, well, pretty much anywhere he pleased, the players, managers and fans alike would all give him a pat on the head, as he was just as much a sign of spring baseball as the smell of pine tar or the crack of a bat.
Unfortunately, Brewzer passed away this spring due to an unexpected illness.
In his honor, WBZ-TV’s Sports Final re-ran a special piece on Sunday showing a day in the life of Brewzer from back in 2007.

It’s a very special tribute to remember a “once in a lifetime” dog…
