STONEHAM (CBS) - A driver was killed in an accident on I-93 southbound in Stoneham and an alleged drunk driver was arrested after a subsequent crash early Sunday morning.

The victim, an adult woman, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. She was driving a Volkswagen Beetle that collided with a box truck, police said.

A passenger in the Beetle, an adult man from Medford, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police said 29-year-old Albert Vasquez of Lawrence was drunk when he crashed into the scene soon after, colliding with a responding State Police cruiser and tow truck. The trooper and tow truck driver were not injured.

Vasquez was hospitalized with chest pains. He is set to be arraigned at Woburn District Court on OUI charges as soon as Monday.

Both crashes are still under investigation.
