Auto Bodies Hurt By Mild Winter
BOSTON (CBS) - The lack of snow this past winter has been an obvious strain on snow plow operators.
But there's an entire business sector that says it's feeling the pain. No slippery roads mean fewer car crashes. And fewer car crashes mean less auto body work is needed.
Dan Gilbert, General Manager of Automotive Specialties Hyde Park says he's seen business plummet by about 40 percent.

"We happen to be lucky to be a business that's been around for a little over 30 years. But other shops that are just starting out been around for five or ten years, they're starving for work," he said.
Gilbert says some of those newer shops have been forced to close or lay off workers.
Parts departments, shippers, and accident damage appraisers are all said to be feeling the pinch as well.
