BOSTON (CBS) – Michael Martino is not someone most have heard of, but the Uxbridge man is a hero to many in Kenya.
In 1995 he started the Wells for Kenya Project after hearing a preacher from that region talk about their need for clean water.
So he took action. With the help of volunteers and donations, he put together a drilling rig that has successfully drilled two wells.
Those wells provide clean fresh drinking water to more than 10,000 people.
