Major League Baseball’s opening day is April 5th, but the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics opened the 2012 regular season in Tokyo this morning.
The game started at 6:10 a.m. Eastern time, which is 3 a.m. in Seattle and Oakland. Fred and Rich weren’t aware of this until they heard about it in one of Wallach’s headlines.
The guys discussed why the MLB would do something like this. The game is not even being shown live on the MLB Network, instead it’s a replay of some spring training game.
Fred remembers for years that the first game was always the Cincinnati Reds and for the MLB who always like to celebrate tradition why change things now?
