2 Dead, 1 Hurt In Martha's Vineyard Farm Crash

BOSTON (AP) — State police say two women have been killed and another injured after an SUV hit a tree on private property on Martha's Vineyard.

Police said 70-year-old Judith Morse of West Tisbury, was backing a 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser down a driveway at 2 Red Gate Farm when she struck a tree just after noon Tuesday. Police said she then drove forward, striking an electrical box and a porch before traveling down a hill and hitting a tree head-on. Her front-seat passenger, a 69-year-old Lyman, N.H., woman, also was killed. The rear passenger, 68-year-old Susan Papanicolaou of Minneapolis, had minor injuries.

The larger Red Gate Farm property was the summer home of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Her daughter, Caroline, said in a statement, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this tragic accident."
