‘Bottle Bomb’ Explodes Outside Milford Home

MILFORD (CBS) – A “bottle bomb” exploded in the yard of a home in Milford late Saturday night.

The resident, who lives on Fruit Street, heard something thrown at his house and went outside to check it out. He picked up a bottle, which was smoking, and quickly threw it aside. The bottle then exploded.

Hazardous materials crews, who responded to the home on Sunday afternoon, found that the bottle contained household cleaners and tinfoil, which can cause a chemical reaction.

No one was hurt in the incident. Authorities, though, said the explosion could have caused serious injuries.

It is unknown whether the “bottle bomb” was intended to hurt someone or if it was someone experimenting.
Police are investigating.

Authorities said there have been a number of similar incidents across the area over the past several months.

Put some dry ice and water into a 2 liter soda bottle, Screw cap on tight. Wait. Boom.. Loud enough to wake your neighbors but not enough to wake up a State Trooper.
