Prosecutors Drop Attempted Rape Charge Against Former BU Hockey Player

BOSTON (CBS) – Prosecutors have dropped the most serious of charges against a Boston University hockey player accused of sexual assault.

Citing a lack of evidence, the court has decided not to prosecute Corey Trivino on the charge of assault with intent to commit rape. That charge could have carried up to 20 years in prison.

"The evidence as it stands was not sufficient to pursue that particular count," says Jake Wark, a spokesperson for the Suffolk County district attorney.

Trivino still faces indecent assault and breaking and entering charges.

Trivino was accused of forcing his way into another BU student's room where he groped, tried to kiss her and even laid on her bed.

He was kicked off of the hockey team and the school said it was conducting its own investigation.
