BenJarvus Green-Ellis has reached an agreement on a three-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Green-Ellis, who will turn 27 in July, spent his entire NFL career with the Patriots, beginning in 2008. He topped the 1,000-yard mark in 2010, when he also scored a career-high 13 touchdowns. Last season, he averaged 3.7 yards per carry for 667 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The stat that always stands out most with Green-Ellis, though, is his career number of fumbles: zero.

With the departure of Green-Ellis, the Patriots have running backs Danny Woodhead, Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen on the roster.

Anyone given a hyphenated last name by his parents and who doesn’t have the brains to use solely his father’s surname should be cashiered. What happens when two people with the so very fashionable hyphenated last names marry and have children, what names do the children use?

Check out any police blotter. You’ll see their names all over it.
