New Bedford Man Charged With Raping 82-Year-Old Woman In His Care
BOSTON (CBS) - A 26-year-old driver for a senior citizen transport service is charged with sexually assaulting one of his clients.
John Costa of New Bedford was ordered held on $125,000 bail following his arraignment on Tuesday. He turned himself into police earlier in the day.
Police said Costa, who drives for Capeway Transportation Service, attacked an 82-year-old woman on March 1 as he was taking her from a day care program to a medical appointment in Dartmouth.
The woman uses a wheel chair.
Police in New Bedford said they are charging Costa with lewdness involving a second victim. They did not disclose details.
Costa has been driving for Capeway for a little more than a year.
