BOSTON (CBS) – When you see a story about a parent going to jail over trying to enroll their child in a better school, it’s hard not to feel for them. What parent doesn’t want the best for their kids? Unfortunately, there is a massive gap between our country’s best and worst schools. If kids don’t have equal access, how can they have equal opportunities? Is a voucher or school choice program the way to level the playing field? Or are there other ways we can make sure students get the best education available? Kevin Chavous, former Chair of the District of Columbia Council’s Education Committee, and Jamie Gass, from the Pioneer Institute, are in studio to talk about the issue.
