2 Arrested After Cab Driver Stabbed In South End
BOSTON (CBS) – Two people were arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with the stabbing of a cab driver overnight in the South End.
It happened just after 1 a.m. near the intersection of Shawmut Avenue and Lenox Street.
A witness told police two men ran from the taxi after the attack.
Thirty-seven-year-old Kareem Jemison of Boston and 20-year-old Michael Shaw of South Boston were both arrested a short time later.
The cab driver was rushed to Boston Medical Center in critical but stable condition with two multiple stab wounds.
"According to the victim, a white male and a black male had attempted to rob him. After trying to rob him, the victim says the suspects jumped out of his car," Boston police said in a statement.
The driver's name has not been released. He is a 50-year-old man from Lynn, according to the Suffolk District Attorney's Office.
Jemison and Shaw were arraigned in Boston Municipal Court Tuesday and ordered held on $10,000 cash bail each.
Both are charged with intent to rob while armed and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
