16 Bruins To Shave Heads In 'Cuts For A Cause'

BOSTON (CBS) – A week from Wednesday, over a dozen of the Boston Bruins will look a little different under their helmets.

The team announced 16 players who will participate in the fifth annual "Cuts for a Cause" on March 28.

Bruins forward Shawn Thornton is putting on the event, and will be joined by teammates Patrice Bergeron, Johnny Boychuk, Jordan Caron, Zdeno Chara, Nathan Horton, Chris Kelly, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Adam McQuaid, Mike Mottau, Daniel Paille, Rich Peverley, Tyler Seguin and Dennis Seidenberg, who will all have their heads shaved by auction winners to raise money for children battling cancer.

Now they just need someone to do the shaving. That auction begins Monday, March 19 at 10am, with tickets just $25 apiece. Fans can purchase tickets online until Monday, March 26 at noon.

In addition to becoming barbers for a day, auction winners will also receive admission to the VIP session from 2:30pm-3:30pm where they can mingle with team in a private viewing area and a special Bruins gift bag that includes autographed Bruins memorabilia.

The Boston Bruins Foundation is raffling off the chance to shave Tyler Seguin's head and two VIP tickets to the event. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased online for $5.00 per ticket. The raffle will run from Monday, March 19 at 10:00am through Monday, March 26 at 5:00pm.

The event, hosted by 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich, benefits the Boston Bruins Foundation and Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center.

In addition to the Bruins offering up their heads to be shaven, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Fred Toucher and Michael Felger will also be shaving their heads for charity.

"Cuts for a Cause" will be held on March 28 from 2:30pm to 5:00pm at Royale, located at 279 Tremont in Boston.
