EPA Gives 9 NE Businesses Energy Star Awards
BOSTON (AP) — Nine New England businesses and organizations have been given "Energy Star" awards for their long-term commitment to greater energy efficiency.
The awards are given annually by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.
The winners include: Beacon Capitol Partners LLC of Boston; Staples Inc., Framingham, Mass.; Efficiency Vermont and Vermont Gas Systems, both of Burlington, Vt.; HEI Hotels & Resorts, Norwalk, Conn.; and Raytheon Co., of Waltham, Mass. Other winners are: the Joint Management Committee and the Sponsors of the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships Inc., both of Lexington, Mass.; and National Grid, Waltham, Mass.
Energy Star was started by EPA in 1992 as a market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency.
