BOSTON (CBS) — The Boston Celtics waited and hoped for good news on Chris Wilcox, but it looks as though it’s not coming.
The Celtics’ forward will miss the remainder of the season, according to The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn. The Boston Herald also reported the news.
The Herald reports the issue is not career-threatening, but he may need to undergo heart surgery.
Wilcox did not travel with the team after doctors found an issue with his heart last week.
The 29-year-old Wilcox played in 28 games this year, averaging an efficient 5.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game. He signed a one-year deal worth $3 million this past offseason.
