HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — The trial of a biology professor charged with killing three colleagues at the University of Alabama in Huntsville has been delayed.
Madison County Circuit Judge Alan Mann has granted a defense motion to delay the trial of Amy Bishop from its scheduled March 19 start because of a dispute over whether the state would pay expenses for defense expert witnesses, the judge’s office confirmed Monday.
Bishop is charged with capital murder in the shooting deaths of three of her colleagues during a shooting outburst at a faculty meeting at UAH on Feb. 12, 1010. She is also charged with three counts of attempted murder for wounding three others during the shooting spree.
She is also charged with murder in the shotgun slaying of her brother in Massachusetts in 1986.
