Boston Business Journal - No New Red Sox Lottery Tickets

BOSTON (CBS) - For the first time in seven years, the state lottery will not be issuing a new Red Sox scratch ticket.

The Sox scratch tickets have been the most profitable sports scratch ticket in the country, but last year, 2 million of the tickets went unsold.

The lottery wants to sell the leftover tickets before considering a new game.

The Red Sox have earned about $10.5 million in licensing fees over the past seven years from their partnership with the state lottery.

Julie Donnelly of the Boston Business Journal contributed to this report.
