Unhappy Neighbor Squeals On Brockton Pig

BROCKTON (CBS) - A Brockton man's pet pig is causing a little bit of a stir among neighbors.

Anthony Ruiz says most of the people in his neighborhood love Porkchop, a 40-pound white-haired potbelly pig who lives in his garage in Brockton, but not everyone.

"You can't please them all," Ruiz told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Karen Twomey.

Ruiz does have a special license from the city to keep the pet pig. And while most of the people who live around Ruiz say they love Porkchop, at least one admits to calling animal control on him.

Stewart Sterling told the Brockton Enterprise that Ruiz doesn't follow city rules on pets. The 64-year-old Sterling said he has seen Porkchop loose many times and twice has called animal control.

"I don't care if the neighbor to the left and right think it's cute," Sterling told the Enterprise. "There's not supposed to be a pig running up and down the street."

Ruiz says he has been cited three times by the city, but notes that he does his best to follow the rules.
