Father, Son Charged In Fitchburg Murder

FITCHBURG (CBS/AP) — Three people including a father and son have been arrested in connection with the slaying of a man whose body was found on a dirt road near Fitchburg Municipal Airport.

The Worcester district attorney's office says 53-year-old Reinaldo Andino-Colon and his son, 23-year-old Reinaldo Andino, both of Fitchburg, are scheduled to be arraigned on murder charges Monday in connection with the August death of Alex Ortiz-Rivera.

Authorities say a third suspect, 19-year-old Edward J. Ortiz, was arrested in Puerto Rico last week and is being held on $5 million bail. He will be returned to Massachusetts to face a murder charge.

The 32-year-old Rivera was found by a passer-by on Aug. 19.

According to District Attorney Joseph Early, Rivera had nine pounds of marijuana and more than $8,000 in cash on him at the time of his murder. All three suspects are alleged to have participated in the beating and choking of Mr. Ortiz-Rivera, whose body was placed in the rear of a pick-up truck and dumped off Airport Road.
