Boston Hospitals Worried About MBTA Service Cuts

BOSTON (CBS) - Tens of thousands hospital workers in the state would face disrupted commutes if the MBTA enacts the cuts that it outlined in two scenarios last month.

Hospital administrators in MBTA service areas are starting to consider contingency plans, including paying for extra shuttle buses to run at the hospitals' cost.

Partners Healthcare told the Boston Business Journal they're particularly concerned about weekend E line Green Line service, which would be eliminated in both of the T's proposed scenarios.

Up to 104,000 people including workers, students and patients come to the Longwood Medical area every day. And about 44 percent of the Longwood workforce use's the MBTA.

People in the Longwood medical and academic community spend $19 million on T passes every year.
