Bertrand And Gasper: Rosenthal Weighs In On Wild Card, Valentine
BOSTON (CBS) - Baseball writer Ken Rosenthal of Foxsports.com joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Bertrand and Gasper to talk about Major League Baseball's new Wild Card playoff system.
MLB announced on Friday the addition of two more Wild Card teams and a single elimination game in each league to start the playoffs. Rosethal wasn't originally excited about the plan but has been won over.
"There will be a wild scramble each year to win the Division to avoid the knockout game," said Rosenthal. "That is something that is very positive that outweighs all the negatives [of the plan]"

Rosenthal also said that he isn't yet convinced that Bobby Valentine will have a significant impact on his players. "That is a veteran group there. Its a group with a lot of player who are loyal to Francona. And it is a group that for all its faults last year, still with a month to go was in a really good position."
