PEMBROKE, N.H. (CBS) – An eight-year old New Hampshire boy is being called a hero for helping save his best friend’s life.

Colin Campbell and his friend Owen were playing Frisbee outside in Pembroke when Owen suddenly fell through some thin ice.

Colin knew just what to do.

“‘I told him it wasn’t safe but he went on it and went over to the other side and at the last step that he took, he fell through the ice,” says Colin.

“I was very scared,” Colin told WBZ. “I ran up to get his parents and told them that he’s drowning.”

Colin says he remembered his parents told him never to go in after someone who falls through the ice.

Paramedics took Owen to the hospital, but he’s now home doing just fine.
