NAHANT (CBS) – A teenager accused of breaking into a Nahant home overnight and setting a fire is under arrest.

Police say 18-year-old Joshua Carreiro broke into the house belonging to the Nahant DPW Superintendent on Maple Ave. and set a fire in a second floor bedroom.

Police say the home’s fire alarms woke up the homeowner, who was able to extinguish the flames before they could grow out of control.

Carreiro is facing a number of charges, including Breaking & Entering, Arson, and Larceny.

Investigators say Carreiro was a former friend of the homeowner’s son.
