Waltham 'Love Bandit' Gets 6 Years In Jail For Scamming Women

WOBURN (AP) — A Waltham man has been sentenced to six years in jail after pleading guilty to stealing more than $200,000 from four women he met on Internet dating sites.

Albert Lovering was also sentenced Wednesday in Middlesex Superior Court to 10 years of probation and ordered to pay $78,000 in restitution to the victims.

He pleaded guilty to 23 counts of larceny.

Prosecutors say the 54-year-old Lovering deceived the women into believing he was romantically attached to them and "in need of financial assistance."

They said the women loaned Lovering thousands of dollars, with the expectation he would repay them, but he never did.

Authorities say Lovering met the women through various dating websites, including Yahoo.com, Plentyoffish.com and the personal ads on Craigslist, between November 2006 and December 2008.
