BOSTON (CBS) – Demand is always high for apartments in downtown Boston and two new projects have just been approved that will change the look of the city.

These developments will bring nearly 300 more units to the rental market in the Fort Point and Bullfinch neighborhoods.

One project is three adjoining buildings on Melcher Street in the innovation district’s Fort Point Channel. That will add 60 units when it’s completed.

The other is a development called the Merano, a $165 million project that will add 230 residential units, as well as a 210 room hotel, restaurant and retail space.

The larger project, the Merano, is expected to break ground this spring.

Both projects will most likely be completed next year.
