Video Shows Alleged Drunk Driver Hitting Woman In Fall River

FALL RIVER (CBS) – There is new video of the moment an alleged drunk driver ran down a Fall River woman and tried to take off.

Donna Adams was crossing the street when a speeding car hit her knocking her onto the windshield.

"He flipped me on the hood," says Adams. "I seen my life flash by me, I thought I was gone."

WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports

A few moments later, the driver tried to speed away. He told police he got behind the wheel after drinking.

"I wouldn't do that to a dog, never mind a human being," says Adams who suffered bruises and a cracked bone in her leg.

Police say the driver, 32-year-old Antonio Martis, told police he had five beers and two shots the night before.

Two men chased down Martis and apprehended him after he crashed a block away. One of the men, "Troy" is a Military Police officer in the Army National Guard.
